Primary Purpose:                                                           

Responsible for the overall management, strategic planning, development, evaluation, and implementation of the District’s safety, security, and emergency management programs. Oversee prevention, preparedness, response, and recovery activities. Advise the Superintendent, Board of Trustees, and District administration on safety and security matters; coordinate emergency response and preparedness with campuses, District departments, law enforcement, and emergency service providers; lead or serve on District threat assessment and safety teams; and serve as District Attendance Officer.

 

Qualifications:

Education/Certification

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in criminal justice, emergency management, education, public safety, or a related field

Current Texas License to Carry (LTC) or ability to obtain an LTC preferred.

Clear and valid Texas driver’s license

 

Special Knowledge/Skills

Knowledge of school safety, security, and emergency management practices, including NIMS/ICS and emergency operations planning.

Knowledge of Texas school safety requirements, applicable laws, regulations, fire codes, and safety standards.

Knowledge of emergency response procedures and coordination with law enforcement, fire, and emergency service agencies.

Strong organizational, communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.

Ability to plan, coordinate, and evaluate districtwide safety, security, and emergency preparedness programs.

Ability to interpret and apply laws, policies, regulations, and compliance requirements.

Ability to exercise sound judgment, maintain confidentiality, and remain calm and effective during emergencies and stressful situations.

 

Experience

Three years of experience working with emergency management, public safety, or emergency communications

Two years of experience in K-12 school administration preferred
